Catching up with former basketball players
LSJ’s Joe Rexrode put together a list of former Spartans playing professional basketball and it turns out, some very big surprises are out there in the things some are doing. For example, oh hi, Marquise Gray, oh you are scoring 20 points per game? Or, if you even remember Brandon Cotton, I guess 35 ppg is pretty solid.
Basketball recruiting preview
The Only Colors put together a breakdown of the 2012, ’13, ’14 and ’15 and talks about the main players MSU is targeting — including Chicago products Jabari Parker (’13) and Cliff Alexander (’14).
Speaking of Parker and Alexander, the two players met as Simeon and Curie High Schools squared off the for the public league title. Simeon and Parker won 53-49. Parker had 11 points, while Alexander was held to four. And yes, Tom Izzo was in attendance.
Two Spartans named to all two-star team
Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples put together a team of two-star (and lower) recruits, and Le’Veon Bell and Darqueze Dennard made list.

Spartans sweep Alaska-Fairbanks
Michigan State took two games from Alaska this weekend, a 3-2 overtime win and a 3-0 win. This weekend also was senior night, as the senior class played its final home games.
A Munn Minute breaks down the results from the weekend in which the Spartans moved into fourth place in the CCHA.
The Spartans will travel to Notre Dame next weekend.
MSU a No. 1 seed?
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updated his bracketology, and lists MSU as a No. 1 seed. Lunardi placed the Spartans as the top seed in the Phoenix region. Also, MSU moved up to No. 6 in the coaches poll Monday.
