Fourteen Spartans taking place in MSU’s pro day
Six Michigan State football players had the chance to showcase their skills at the NFL Combine at Indianapolis a couple weeks ago, and now more Spartans will have their chance to perform in front of NFL scouts.
Edwin Baker, Kirk Cousins, B.J. Cunningham, Keshawn Martin, Trenton Robinson and Jerel Worthy all took part in the Combine, but players like Brian Linthicum and Keith Nichol did not get invitations. The pro day at Spartans Stadium today will be their opportunity to run through drills and practice to show what they can bring to an NFL team.
The players expected to participate are made up of ten seniors and the two underclassmen who entered early, Baker and Worthy.
A list of participants has not been released, but it is safe to assume Cousins, Cunningham, Linthicum, Martin, Nichol and Robinson will be among the seniors.
The remaining spot likely will be filled by either tight end Garrett Celek or offensive lineman Joel Foreman, in my opinion. Based on the fact that Celek participated in an all-star game after the season, and Foreman did not and I haven’t heard any rumors on his end, Celek is my guess.
Thirty-five NFL general managers, coaches and scouts had pre-registered for the event according to MSU Football and fifty media members had requested credentials.
