As spring practice kicked off today, Mark Dantonio said the waiver for transfer DeAnthony Arnett to have eligibility to play immediately this fall has been filed.
Michigan State should receive a ruling from the NCAA within three weeks.
“3 weeks! Got my fingers crossed! Praying for the best every night!” Arnett tweeted Monday.
Arnett is listed behind Keith Mumphery and Andre Sims Jr. at Z-receiver position. In my opinion, Arnett is a good candidate to play slot and with his talent, it would be hard to keep him off the field.
Dantonio said the Spartans will prepare as if he will be eligible to play.
“We’ll work him as if he’s going to be game ready, and it should be a very exciting player, based on high school and how he ran around in winter conditioning,” he said. “A very fluid athlete, very quick, explosive. He’ll pay us great dividends, I think, as a person and player moving forward.”
Michigan State’s athletic department had been taking its time to file the paperwork, making sure it had all the important medical information on Arnett’s father in order and included.
